Jaguar C-XF

The Jaguar C-XF (Concept-XF) is a concept car which indicates a new design direction for Jaguar cars. To be revealed at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan the C-XF concept is a preview of the XF.

The previous generations of Jaguar cars were notably "retro" in design, being heavily influenced by styling cues from classic Jaguars from the 1960's. The C-XF represents a departure from that design strategy. Although the C-XF has four doors, its shape is very much that of a coupé, following a design trend started by the already super-successful Mercedes-Benz CLS. Jaguar knows this approach will limit the potential market for the car — but that’s all part of the plan. The latest thinking within Jaguar is that its current woes are down to an overly ambitious, poorly conceived and executed plan to turn Jaguar into a large-volume rival for BMW, Mercedes and Audi. So now, instead of building 1m cars a year, it will deliberately aim to construct less than a tenth of that number, turning Jaguar into an exclusive, low-volume manufacturer of high-quality premium sporting cars.

Jaguar XJ220

The Jaguar XJ220 was a supercar produced by Ford's Jaguar luxury marque in collaboration with Tom Walkinshaw Racing as Jaguar Sport between 1992 and 1994.

It held the record for the highest top speed of a production car (350 km/h, 217 mph) until the arrival of the McLaren F1 in 1994.

In 1992 at the Nardò Ring, Martin Brundle pushed a XJ220 to 217.1 mph. However to achieve this speed, the catalytic converters were disconnected and the rev limiter was increased from 7200 rpm to 7900 rpm.

Jaguar XK120C (1953)

The Jaguar XK120 was a sports car manufactured by Jaguar Cars between 1949 and 1954. It was the first post-war sports car from the marque, succeeding the SS100 which ended production in 1940 with the start of the war in Britain. The XK120 was launched at the 1948 London Motor Show as a test bed and show vehicle to highlight the new Jaguar XK engine. The sudden popularity of the car persuaded William Lyons to put the car into production as a standard model.

Power came from a dual overhead cam 3.4 L straight-6 engine, Jaguar's famous XK engine. This same basic design of the XK engine was used in 3.8L and 4.2L versions into the late 1980's.

The XK120 name referred to the vehicle's impressive 120 mph (193 km/h) top speed. At the time of its launch it was the world's fastest standard production car. It was available as a coupe (FHC or Fixed Head Coupe), convertible (DHC or Drop Head Coupe), or roadster (OTS or Open Top Sports). The OTS or Roadster had a very light weight canvas top and removable side curtains. The DHC or Drop Head Coupe had a padded top and roll up windows. Both the FHC and DHC had an elegant wood veneer dash.

Jaguar XJS

The Jaguar XJ-S (later the XJS) is a luxury grand tourer produced by the British automaker Jaguar Cars. The XJ-S replaced the legendary Jaguar E-Type (or XK-E) in September 1975, and was based on the XJ saloon.

It had been developed as the XK-F, though it was very different in character from its predecessor. Although it never had quite the same sporting image, the XJ-S was a competent grand tourer and, in fact, more aerodynamic than the E-type. The last XJS was produced on April 4, 1996, with the XK8 taking its place.

Silk Cut Jaguar XJR12

Jaguar roared for a seventh and final time at LeMans in 1990. The car used was the final evolution of the V12 engined TWR designed XJR 6. Most of its competitors at LeMans ran turbocharged engines, but the TWR kept on using the proven naturally aspirated V12 engine.

Early in the race the turbo Nissans and Porsches fought for the lead with the four Jaguars keeping within striking distance. Over the night the turbocharged cars paid for their early speed and one by one started to retire, in the final hour the last Porsche blew up. This retirement saw the #3 and #2 Jaguar move up to first and second respectively.

The next season saw TWR/Jaguar focus on the turbocharged V6 engine but they were never able to copy the performance of the V12 engine XJR 9 and XJR 12. The XJR 12 featured is the actual LeMans winner and is still owned by team manager Tom Walkinshaw.

Jaguar XK

The XK series (XK8 and XKR) is a grand tourer produced by the British automaker Jaguar since the 1997 model year. It is the replacement of the XJS, and is available as a coupé and convertible. Currently in its second generation, the XK8 was the first 8 cylinder vehicle produced by Jaguar, when the Jaguar AJ-V8 engine was introduced.

The 1997 XK8 was available in coupé or convertible body styles and with either a supercharged 390 hp (287 kW) or naturally aspirated 290 hp (213 kW) engine. The supercharged variant is known as the XKR. The first-generation XK series shares its platform with the Aston Martin DB7. Both cars are derived from the Jaguar XJS, though the platform has been extensively changed.

Jaguar unveiled an all-new 2006 car, called simply the "XK", at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2005. It uses the new XJ's aluminium chassis and is offered as both a coupé or convertible. The new XK closely resembles the ALC Coupe concept which was first seen at the 2005 North American International Auto Show. The designer, Ian Callum, was also responsible for Aston Martin's DB7 and Vanquish coupés. The new XK's grille is inspired by that of the 1961 Jaguar E-Type.

Jaguar E-Type

The Jaguar E-type or XK-E is an automobile manufactured by Jaguar Cars between 1961 and 1974. The E-type revolutionised sports car design, with performance, handling and looks ahead of its time. It was priced well below competing models, helping it to high sales for a high performance car. In excess of 70,000 E-types were sold over 14 years.

In 2004, Sports Car International named this car number one on the list of Top Sports Cars of the 1960s.
